We’ve been doing so much work behind the scenes to help local employers create Kickstart roles, so it’s great to be able to start to tell you all about them!
One of the employers we’ve worked with, Apollo Marketing Protection Ltd., initially had thirty placements available for Lead Generation opportunities, so they were customer service based, involving answering the phone and being the first point of contact for enquiries.
What type of support was offered?
Nottingham Jobs worked with our applicants, giving one-to-one employment advice and guidance over the phone. In addition, the young applicants received support with CV preparation and help with registration on to Universal Credit if they needed it.
Nottingham Jobs organised an excellent Customer Service Sector Based Work Academy Programme (in partnership with DBC Training and ourselves) to meet our training needs and to ensure the applicants were prepared for the role and for future opportunities. Applicants were given the opportunity to work with skilled tutors to enhance their existing skills, develop new ones and gain employability skills to prepare them for their future careers at the end of the placement.
In addition to the course, DBC Training held a session to provide the candidates with information on the training and roles available with Apollo. The candidates who wished to proceed with the course were enrolled ready to start their journey.
Did your applicants need any previous experience?
Apollo’s opportunities didn’t require any previous experience, but it was essential for the business that applicants were able to, and were enthusiastic about, providing an excellent customer experience. Nottingham Jobs helped us to identify the most suitable applicants and arrange for them to attend our customer service selection day. All nine successful candidates who came along and finished the course, were offered and accepted placements.
What do applicants say about the experience?
Whilst it is important to understand the process it is always helpful to find out how the candidates found the process, from those people who have experienced it first hand. This is what they told us;
“I have really enjoyed working for Family Protect Plus over the past couple of months, from the boarding process with Tina to the training with Richard, I have enjoyed every step. Both Richard and Tina are very understanding, helpful and accommodating, Richard offered very intensive training to make sure we were prepared for every obstacle and I felt fully ready for the day I went on the phones.” Sian
“I am currently really enjoying my role, it’s an excellent working environment, including the people and the office itself. The training was also great and I’ve learnt a lot of new skills that I haven’t learnt before and I really hope to develop more skills as time moves on and I hope to stay on after the six months are over.” Aisha
“Really nice environment, plenty of support and training from Richard and senior employees, flexible with targets and everyone has been quite helpful even though English is not my first language.” Arafa
“The on boarding process was very easy, the first time I met Richard he was very friendly and explained the process very well which is what made me want to do the Kickstart program. Coming into the office everyone was really friendly and welcoming, the training was very informative. Richard is very easy to talk to and is always there to help if there are any issues or questions you have. The office on a whole is very welcoming which made starting a new job very easy. The campaigns we work on are very good and easy to work on and get used to. I am very happy I had this opportunity because I have never worked in an office before so I was a little nervous but now I feel part of the team” Brogan
“So I’ve been working here now for almost two months, and I absolutely love it. The atmosphere is amazing, very chilled and inviting. The staff are extremely welcoming, take a lot of interest in how you find the job and offer just as much support. Tina throughout was incredible, made me feel very confident and assured me she will help me, and that she did to the best of her ability. Richard also has been really good, the training he provided was fantastic, he offered lots of guidance and support and answered any questions or concerns I had. All in all I’m very settled and comfortable here, I cannot wait to see where it leads.” Jasmine
