The Typical Teen Life For Me!

Hello guys! My name’s Hollie and I am 16 years old. Lives are always different depending on who you are, where you’re from and the background you’re from, so here’s a short insight in my life from the last year to present…

Let’s start from the start of 2019…enjoying my two priorities in life, football and art…

Me and my dad go to Meadow Lane every home match to watch the magpies, County fan by heart always no matter the circumstances! The reason I turned to football is because it took away the pressures from school… During my school years I got severely bullied which lowered my confidence dramatically, to the point where I wouldn’t leave the house without make up painted onto my face. No one should ever be made to feel uncomfortable in their own body but unfortunately that’s what I went through… football was my get away… that was until I signed up to be a young carer! And let me just say that was the best decision I ever made!

They offer amazing support and I couldn’t thank them enough for everything they’ve been helping me with! Hot meals sent home during lockdown when its not been possible to get to the shop for any reason. Having that extra support there to help me when things are a bit difficult is amazing! Have that permanent support is amazing because I know I could call them up and I would always have my question answered and they always make sure everything is okay and if there’s any extra support they can help with. Which leads me to the next part…

I am currently in college to study public services in hope to become a paramedic in my future career! It’s a dream to be under the blue light service going to call outs and helping the general public, it’s such a rewarding job and I’m so excited to get to that chapter of my life but obviously I have to complete my course. The Carers Federation have helped me massively by funding me a laptop so that I’m able to complete my coursework and have the best crack at my college course in hopes to pass! I cannot thank them enough for the support given and not only are they a team but they are friends! One big group hoping to make a difference in society and if there’s one thing I’ve learned from being a young carer that every young person should follow is to look after your loved ones because they really do go out their way to support your dreams and help you to succeed and be the best you possibly can be!

So that’s it from me I hope you’ve enjoyed reading a bit into my life and how I get by!

Thank you for reading. Hollie.
